Hurricane Alex making landfall

Hurricane Alex, the first hurricane in the 2010 Atlantic Basin season, is making landfall in northeastern Mexico.  There is quite a bit of moisture associated with this system, as the following WTI image shows.

Outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) anomalies, as part of the broader behavior associated with the Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO).  Recently, we are seeing positive OLR at 70E/80E, which may be connected to the brief respite in the Indian Monsoon.
